Kazuo Shiraga ( 1924 - 2008 ) was a Japanese Performance Painting artist. He utilized the physical body as part of the painting process. Shiraga would suspend himself over the canvas or wrestle through mud to achieve his compositions. He was a member of the Gutai art collective.
