Our August 5th sale of Americana and English decorative and fine art provides an opportunity to experience a variety of categories anchored around Americana from the 18th century to today. The sale incorporates influences that illustrate the story of America including the important connections with English and European traditions. We are featuring art of the American west as well as traditional wares and garden ornaments perfect for a country house conceived in a classic English style. Stately portraits alongside a curated selection of tables, chairs and decorations are among the highlights of the sale. Folk art and Latin American works of art demonstrate America’s creative spirit with bold colors and simple designs to create a pop of color when paired with furniture inspired by the Aesthetic Movement. An exceptional selection of clocks and rare books are also on offer in a range of tastes to suit every collector. We are proud to offer property from esteemed collections including the Newark Museum, the Estate of Seward Kennedy, Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art, Wilkes University, and the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Houghton.
